How much disk space ? :: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
If you have an SSD, leaving at least 25% of the SSD empty will ensure you have excellent performance. On modern SSDs with overprovisioning, this is probably much too conservative, and even 10% could be an okay number. It really depends on the SSD. Your SSD probably has overprovisioning, as it has 240GB available instead of the full 256GB. So 16GB is probably reserved as a free space buffer. You should keep like 10% free, but not because of speed, but your OS should never run out of space. If I had to use a made up number I'd go with _I_'s recommendation, 10% should work as well as anything most of the time without being tempted to waste too much space.

This is a Crucial M500. Thanks, No, that will just wear the drive faster in the part that you use and leave part untouched and unusable.
You need to leave quite a bit free space on your SSD or its write performance will considerably slow down. When an SSD has plenty of free space, this means it has a lot of empty blocks too.

I own a patriot inferno ssd 200gb type kind of a clone of the 200gb owc. I keep it about 140gb full. 4 Dec 2015 Here are three ways to make Windows take up less room on your hard drive or SSD. A fresh install of Windows 10 takes up about 15 GB of storage space. You can limit how much space this paging file takes up.

Jotun. Oct 13, 2020 @ 11:54pm For example, swapping tiles between RAM and an SSD is much faster than swapping between RAM and a hard disk. If your SSD doesn’t have much free space (if the scratch file grows bigger than can fit on the SSD), you can add a secondary or tertiary hard disk (after the SSD).

2019-03-25 · SSDs slow down as you fill them up because the drive will have a lot of partially filled blocks, which are slower to write to than empty blocks. It’s tempting to fill up an SSD to the brim, but you Senior Member.
